Founded in 1977 by Blanka A. Rosenstiel as a national non-profit organization headquartered in Miami, the Chopin Foundation aims to help young, talented American artists in their career development, and to make classical music accessible to all.
The most important program of the Chopin Foundation is the National Chopin Piano Competition, held in Miami every five years. It is a prestigious, major U.S. music competition open exclusively to American pianists. In addition to receiving substantial cash prizes, the top winners are sent, all expenses paid, to the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, the oldest music competition in the world.

http://www.chopin.org/ The Chopin Foundation’s mission is twofold: 1. to assist young, talented American pianists in their career development and in so doing, open doors to international careers. 2. to make classical music, especially the music of Frederic Chopin, accessible to all.
