The YOLA at EXPO Chamber Orchestra performs excerpts from Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite” in a performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall on April 6th, 2013. This performance closed an afternoon of music in which four different YOLA ensembles, ranging in ability from beginner to advanced and with students aged 5-17, performed on the stage of the Concert Hall to an audience of family and friends of YOLA.
Through Gustavo Dudamel's Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA) program – inspired by Venezuela's revolutionary El Sistema – the LA Phil and its community partners provide free instruments, intensive music training, and academic support to over 600 students from underserved neighborhoods, empowering them to become vital citizens, leaders, and agents of change.
